LOS ANGELES -- Univision DJ Eddie Sotelo, “El Piolín”, on April 27 announced his support for the boycott and other activities planned for May 1 on Univision's La Nueva 101.9-FM in Los Angeles. He said he would not be at work on Monday and that his employer, Univision, supported his decision. The announcement was followed by an interview with Cardinal Roger Mahony and Assemblyman Fabian Nuñez. Some radio listeners on Univision’s online forum were skeptical over the timing of the announcement, wondering why he "waited until the last minute to show your support.” Others lauded the announcement and called on the community to unite. “El Piolín” helped mobilize hundreds of thousands of demonstrators in the March 25 protest in Los Angeles.
